PORT HURON ROTARY ANNOUNCES THEME FOR
2022 INTERNATIONAL DAY PARADE
PORT HURON — The Port Huron Rotary Club proudly announces its plans for the Rotary International Day Parade, scheduled for July 13, 2022. This will be the 102nd year of the parade hosted by the Rotary Club of Port Huron, a tradition older than both the Detroit and New York Thanksgiving Day parades.
The theme for this year’s parade is going to be “Children’s Storytime.” The Club anticipates float entries and costumes paying tribute to favorite stories and authors of children’s books. For the past several years, Port Huron Rotary has often selected themes that support literacy and the National Public Library’s summer reading program. Last year was an exception as it celebrated “Decades” in honor of the postponed 100th anniversary parade in 2020. This year’s theme returns to spotlighting literacy. Both the St. Clair County Library System and Imagination Library will serve as parade Grand Marshals. Dionte Harris, a class of 2023 student at Port Huron Northern is Jr. Grand Marshal.
Entrants can register at http://paradeday.net/. Please look for further updates and announcements @PortHuronRotary on Facebook and https://www.phrotary.com/. McLaren Port Huron is the parade’s annual event sponsor and the club would like to express appreciation for the hospital’s support.
This year’s parade will be announced live on WPHM 1380AM. Entries competing for the annual prizes will be judged by the Blue Water Young Professionals. Port Huron Rotary asks that attendees please be thoughtful of those around you. Rotary supports and encourages all citizens to help support a safe parade and continued tradition for years to come.
